So, you’re worried when you’re pricing your digital product (or in fact, any product or service) that your audience wouldn’t pay that much for it? Let’s unpack that…
This blog is heavy on the mindset work. I want you to grab a journal if you can and after each question, either journal about it or at least seriously think about it.

How to overcome your mindset around pricing
I hear this one ALL the time from you guys – you’re worried when you’re pricing your digital product (or in fact, any product or service) that your audience wouldn’t pay that much for it.
So, this blog is going to be heavy on the mindset. I actually want you to grab a journal if you can and pause this podcast after each question so that you can either journal about it or at least seriously think about it.
The technique that I’m using throughout this blog is a really good way to reprogram some of these subconscious limiting beliefs that we have – if you’re interested in learning more about this, I recommend listening to episode 232 with Lisa Corduff as this is her jam.
Ok, so…
1. Where did this belief that your audience wouldn’t pay that much come from?
Is it because one person told you once that you were too expensive, so you immediately projected this onto everyone else in your audience?
Or maybe are you projecting your own money beliefs onto your audience? Do you believe that you wouldn’t pay this much, so nobody else would?
Does it stem from self-doubt? Or a feeling of unworthiness? Impostor syndrome?
I really challenge you to get curious here and dive deep into where it comes from.
-
Is it always true that they wouldn’t pay this much? Are there any exceptions?
Have they ever paid this amount of money for something? For example, maybe you’re worried they won’t pay $47 a month for your membership – yet they currently pay double that for a gym membership they never use.
Has anyone paid this to work with you? Past clients maybe?
Has anyone ever paid this much for something similar? Thinking beyond your own audience here – is there ANYONE in the world who would pay this much for it?
-
How is it benefiting you to hold on to the belief that your audience wouldn’t pay this much?
This is a challenging one to think of – but, for example, maybe it keeps you safe from feeling rejected, because you can blame it on the fact that your product is too expensive, rather than it not being something your audience truly wants.
Maybe it keeps you from having to take action and create your product?
How is it benefiting you to hold on to this belief?
-
What is it costing you to hold on to this belief?
Maybe you’re earning less because you’re undercharging and you don’t believe in your true worth. Maybe it’s keeping you from launching your product.
And, in a year’s time, what will it have cost you to hold on to this belief?
Not just in dollar terms, but also in terms of your business and your life? Will you be stuck in the time-for-money hamster wheel because you’re afraid that you’ll launch your products and nobody will buy because they wouldn’t pay that much for it?
-
What’s a new belief you could choose instead?
So, whenever the fear that “my audience wouldn’t pay this much” pops up in your head, what’s a different story you could tell yourself?
For example: “I’m worth what I charge and the right people will pay that much to work with me”
-
If you choose to act from this new belief, how will your life and business look in a year’s time?
Will you be earning more? Have more time off? Have more freedom and flexibility? Have an online program or a membership?
-
Which belief will you choose?
The old one – my audience wouldn’t pay that much, or the new one?
-
What is one action you could take right now to cement this new belief?
Could you set a price for your online course you’re planning to launch? Or send an email to your subscribers letting them know you’re putting your prices up next month?
