7 marketing quick wins for your business
In this blog post, I'm going to be looking at some really easy things to implement that will get you quick wins in marketing your business. It can seem like there is so much out there to do – the thing is, a lot of the things you can do will have longer-term results, or they'll take a lot longer or more energy to implement.
Instead, I'm going to look some marketing quick wins you can implement in a matter of hours (or even minutes!)
Marketing quick win #1: Install the Facebook Pixel
Can someone please tell me why everybody is so bloody afraid of the Facebook Pixel? Anyone?! If you're using one of the major platforms (like Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, etc.) it takes no time at all to set up and it allows you to retarget people via Facebook Ads. Even if you're not running Facebook Ads at the moment, a big Facebook Ads hack is to use the pixel to start building your retargeting audiences, which you can then use to create lookalike audiences. This means you can reach more people who are similar to your website visitors and your existing customers.
Marketing quick win #2: Set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console
Setting these up, just like setting up the Facebook Pixel, doesn't take long and it doesn't have to be scary. What it will give you, however, is the ability to see where your traffic and your sales are coming from. This means you can spend more time and more money on the channels that give you the highest ROI (return on investment) and you can get rid of the ones that aren't performing at all.
Search Console will show you what people are searching for to get to your website, which means you can make better decisions when choosing your content marketing topics, working out how to provide value to your audience, and just your marketing strategy in generalMarketing quick win #3: Ask your family and friends to promote your product or service to their friends
This is such a low hanging fruit – it's free and it's a great way to reach new people. Yet hardly anyone ever does it! So many people are afraid of telling their friends and their family about their business, which is crazy because these are the people who care about you most and they should be the most supportive.
They should be more than willing to share it for you if you just ask them. All you have to do is ask them to do you a favour and to tell their friends about your business. Maybe they'll email a friend who they think could be interested in your services or maybe they'll share your product on Facebook to their friends. Chances are if you ask them, they won't say no.
Marketing quick win #4: Tighten up your branding
You don't need to completely overhaul everything because that would take a while, but just do a quick audit of your brand touchpoints – everything from your website to your email signature. Is your brand look and feel consistent? Is your brand tone of voice consistent? Make a note of things that aren't consistent and fix them. You basically want your brand to look and feel as slick as possible.
Marketing quick win #5: Optimise your website
Now this is more for people who sell a product on their website but, essentially, you can spend all the money in the world on marketing but if people aren't buying from your website then you're losing money like a bathtub without a plug.
Once you've installed Google Analytics you'll be able to see what your website conversion rate is. It should be somewhere between 1 – 3% for an e-commerce site, but it can vary a bit.
Make sure your checkout flow is smooth and frictionless. For example, you don't want to ask for their first name, middle name, and the name of their first born child. Ask only for information that you actually need, like need need.
Ensure your product descriptions communicate the true benefits of your products, not just the features. And, lastly, check that all your website information and copy is accurate, proofread and up to date.
Marketing quick win #6: Do some cold outreach
I know the cold call is a little old school, but it works! There's nothing wrong with cold emailing or cold calling potential clients, partners, ambassadors, etc. Just make sure that whatever you're doing is on-brand and try to avoid sounding like a telemarketer.
Write out a cold email template, infuse it with personality, personalise it for each recipient and hit send. When I say personalise, I don't just mean adding in their name – maybe mention something they've been doing that you love or tell them what it is that you admire about them.
