In episode 847 of Imperfect Action, Steph helps Sammy Aria, a singing coach, tackle the challenges of marketing to a diverse audience with multiple offers. Sammy works with various clients, including podcasters, public speakers, and individuals simply looking to improve their singing. The coaching session delves deep into clarifying Sammy’s messaging to better serve her broad audience, offering valuable insights for anyone struggling with similar challenges in their business.
Sammy's primary concern was how to focus her marketing when her potential clients range from podcasters and public speakers to karaoke enthusiasts. With so many different types of clients, it was challenging to create a cohesive message that would resonate with all of them. The first step in addressing this was to identify the common thread that ties all her clients together: they are all leaders and healers in some capacity.
Steph guided Sammy through a visualisation exercise, asking her to imagine her dream client five years from now. This client could be a therapist, a politician, or another high-level leader who uses their voice to inspire and heal. By narrowing down her focus to serving these leaders and healers, Sammy could start crafting a more targeted message.
Steph helped Sammy break down her clients' journey into three key transformations:
By structuring her offers around these three transformations, Sammy could create a clearer path for her clients, making it easier to market to them effectively.
Steph suggested Sammy focus on one dream client and create a journey that person would go through, from overcoming initial fears to becoming a confident leader. This would help simplify her messaging and make it easier to communicate the value of her offers. Sammy could also create separate offers or programmes targeting each stage of the client journey, whether it's overcoming voice fear, improving vocal technique, or stepping into leadership.
A significant portion of the coaching session also addressed Sammy’s fears around launching group programmes. Sammy expressed anxiety about launching, stemming from past experiences where she had backed out due to fear of failure or getting things wrong in front of a group. Steph reassured her that these fears were normal and that launching could be a valuable learning experience, even if it doesn’t go perfectly.
