This couldn't be further from the truth. One of the best things about Facebook ads is that you literally only need $5 a day to start running good ads. In the grand scheme of things, $5 a day isn't a whole lot. It's the money you could save by making your lunch instead of buying it.
The whole idea with Facebook Ads is that you should be able to turn that $5 into $10 and then $15 and then you can scale it up from there. I recently shared my top tips for running Facebook Ads on a small budget.
Maybe you've been telling yourself that you're not ready to run Facebook Ads, or you're waiting for a certain thing to happen your business before you start running them. Let me tell you: If you have a website, you're ready to start running Facebook Ads.
Maybe you don't even have a product yet. You can still start running Facebook Ads to grow your email list so that when you launch, you're not launching to crickets. You don't even need a website to do this – you can just start running Lead Ads and build your email list that way.
Yes, it can be scary putting your business out there in front of new people but, honestly, you need to start feeling comfortable with the uncomfortable because there will be a lot of uncomfortable situations in business.
I also wrote a blog article on how to get over the fear of putting yourself out there in business.
Well, it's only expensive if you have to hire someone else to do it. And, honestly, it's not that hard to set up yourself.
Back to basics: What is the Facebook Pixel?
The Facebook Pixel is a tracking code that you install on your website and Facebook uses it to match visitors with Facebook users. It allows you to retarget people on Facebook when they've visited your website and it also allows you to do other cool things, like create lookalike audiences.
One of the most common Facebook Ads myths is that it's really hard to set up the Facebook Pixel and honestly that's simply just not true. If your website is built on WordPress, this plugin makes installing the Facebook Pixel quick and easy.
Whilst running Facebook Ads is so easy that anyone can do it, you're not always guaranteed success. Just because you can set up an ad doesn't mean you're going to get the results. So, you need to approach your Facebook Ads with a strategy – not just a spray and pray approach.
The spray and pray approach is usually what leads people to say that Facebook Ads don't work their business when, in fact, all they've done is thrown money at Facebook Ads and expected the results to come to them. Inside my free Facebook Ads training, I show you how to avoid the spray and pray approach – and craft a Facebook Ads strategy that works for your business.
Boosted posts do have their place, but if you're running Facebook Ads on a limited budget then you should not be spending your limited budget on boosting posts. Yes, I know they're easy to set up and run, but they very rarely get you the result you want. This is because the optimisation options, targeting, reporting and creative are all far more limited than they are within Facebook Ads Manager.
So, instead of just boosting your posts and hoping they'll work, I challenge you to set foot inside Facebook Ads Manager and create an actual ad.
I recently wrote a blog post on the differences between Facebook Ads and boosted posts.
This one is just no. It's often the case with boosted posts that you'll get a ton of likes or comments or followers, so you feel like the boosted post has been successful. But, how many of these people even clicked through your website? Let alone purchased from you or joined your email list?
The aim of your Facebook Ads is to get people to join your email list or buy from you or enquire about your services. Facebook Page Likes have so little value these days – they're just a vanity metric, so don't waste your precious budget chasing these.
No way. Service-based businesses can get great results from Facebook Ads too. You just might go about it slightly differently than if you had a product-based business.
For example, rather than advertising your services directly, you might put together a free e-book that showcases your expertise and demonstrates your value. Then, you'd run Facebook Ads to get people to opt-in. Once they've downloaded it, they might get a series of emails from you that further showcase your expertise and then finally in the last email you might pitch them with your services.
