I've had quite a few questions about my Instagram Reels obsession that I had during the lead up to my Launch Magic launch.
So I'm going share with you how I used Reels in this launch. It was really fun!
In the lead up to opening doors for Launch Magic, I thought, let's just see what this new thing is about. I knew that they were getting really good reach because obviously every time Instagram introduces a new feature, like Reels, like Lives, this happens. For example, when they first introduced IGTV, they prioritize it in the algorithm. You might've noticed in your feed, you're starting to see more and more Reels posts. That's because Instagram wants people to start using Reels so that they can grow that part of the platform.

How I use Instagram Reels in a launch
Have fun with your Instagram Reels
Firstly, I had a lot of fun with it. I didn't really stress about the details too much. I didn't stress about how silly I looked. I didn't really plan out the videos that much. And it's actually really funny because there was one that I tried planning and I had this idea in my head of how it was going to look, and that was the one that I actually found the hardest to create because I had such a fixed idea in my head of how I wanted it to look and it didn't actually end up looking anything like what I wanted it to.
And then like with the whole being silly part, I'm not a dancer, guys. I have no sense of rhythm and I just made that a laughing point. I was like, “Yeah, you know what guys? I can't dance. I'm going to own this and just be the person in your feed who has no sense of rhythm.”
Choose topics that will translate to the Reels format
Tying Reels into my launch, I had my broader content strategy for the launch, and I picked topics that I thought would translate easily to the Reels formats or tips, mistakes, that kind of thing.
But then what I did was I thought, “Okay, how can I share this in like a shorter format?” So instead of diving deep into five mistakes everyone is making at a launch, I would just list the five mistakes in the Reel, and that worked really well. And if you look really closely, you'll notice that a lot of my Reels content is actually the same content I've shared on here or in my Instagram posts. It's just in a different format.
Use Reels to promote your lead magnet for your launch
I also used Reels to promote my lead magnet in the lead up to my launch, The Complete Roadmap for a Killer Launch. I used it to promote my webinar when I was running webinar registrations, and then after I opened doors to Launch Magic, I shared a Reel promoting that.
I didn't track the number of signups I got from my Reels. And that was a bit of a rookie error. I should have created a unique link for my Reels and shared like just a unique link so I could have tracked how many people clicked through and patches. But because I was just having so much fun with Reels, I didn't really even think about how they would play into direct conversions. I can tell you that I definitely noticed a spike in followers on days where I shared my Reels and I noticed so much engagement. People were loving some of them. So that was a good sign for me that it was working.
Only use Reels if you enjoy it and find it useful
Don't go and spend hours creating Reels if it's not something that you're having fun with. I spent an hour and a half creating one of them, but I had so much fun in that hour and a half that it didn't actually matter to me that I spent that much time. Next time I launch, I will probably use Reels again. And this time I will actually track how many people opted in for my lead magnet, how many people opted in for my webinar, how many people bought my course so that I can see if is a platform worth investing more time into, or maybe this is a platform not worth investing as much time into. That's typically how I would approach any other kind of platform in a launch, so it's worthwhile doing it for Reels as well.
