Launching with a webinar can be such an effective way to kick off a launch. Some of these benefits are applicable to Facebook Lives as well, but the reason I recommend webinars over a Facebook Live or Instagram Live is that people need to register. The act of registering means they’re committing to showing up and it feels a lot more serious than just yet another FB Live.
So today, I’m sharing 5 reasons why webinars launches work so well when you’re launching something new.

Why do webinar launches work so well?
I love love love webinars – it’s no secret. I know I often say that you don’t HAVE to do a webinar, but they can be such an effective way to kick off a launch.
So, to be completely clear – I’m talking about a live webinar on a platform like Zoom or Webinar Jam. I might do another episode one day comparing the different webinar platforms because I’ve tried most of them at some stage.
Some of these benefits are applicable to Facebook Lives as well, but the reason I recommend webinars over a Facebook Live or Instagram Live is because people need to register.
The act of registering means they’re committing to showing up and it feels a lot more serious than just yet another FB Live.

You’re there live – and this builds connection fast
This is almost like being in the same room as your audience. If you have an international audience, it’s as close as you’ll get to being in the same room as everyone at the same time.
They’re getting to spend an hour hanging out with you. They’re getting to know you as a person.
Being live on a webinar builds connection a heck of a lot faster than any Instagram post or Facebook Ad can.

There’s a fun community vibe
I love when I’m hosting a webinar and people start having little conversations with each other in the chat box.
In one of my Podcast Launch Masterclasses, I had one person ask another for a link to listen to her podcast – and a bunch of them went and downloaded her episodes. Without me even having to prompt them to do this.
Just because you know people in your audience doesn’t mean they know each other, and getting them all on a webinar together at the same time is a great way to show your audience that there are other people in the same boat and foster a sense of community.

You get great social proof if people buy live on the webinar
Social proof is this concept that we look to the actions of others to inform our own decisions.
What I’ve found happens quite a lot on webinars is someone will purchase and then post in the chat box that they’ve purchased.
From a social proof perspective, this is incredible – because everyone else who is there will see that this person has purchased and they’re more likely to do so.

You can answer buyer objections live
I’m sure you’ve experienced buyer objections in the past – usually they’re disguised as questions like: “I’m a service-based business, will this work for me?” or one I get commonly asked: “Why do you charge USD when you live in Australia?” – which is actually a question I’ll record an episode on next month.
But, the amazing thing about a live webinar is that you can address these objections in the live Q&A at the end – you can help someone figure out if your product is a good fit for them or not, while they’re still there on the webinar.

It creates urgency to buy
I’ve talked a bit on this podcast about the concept of urgency and why it’s so important when you’re launching something – but in a nutshell: It’s because we humans are procrastinators. We tend to put off buying something for as long as possible, because obviously we want the money in our bank accounts for as long as possible!
So, when you’re running a live webinar, I always recommend having a special bonus for people who purchase live on the webinar – this creates urgency for them to buy now, because otherwise they won’t get that particular bonus.
