A common thing that came up when I surveyed my audience at the end of last year was the reason that they weren't launching was because they felt like their launch was going to fail. Now, let's talk about that.

“I feel like my launch might fail!”
Do you really feel like your launch will fail? Google the wheel of emotions and you'll probably find that the feeling that your launch will fail is not an actual feeling. There's some kind of underlying feeling underneath this. It might be fear. It might be inadequacy. It might be insecurity. It might be nervousness. There are so many different feelings that can underpin this gut feeling that your launch will fail.
The other thing I want to point out to you is how do you know that your launch will fail? You don't. You are just going based on what has happened in your past. So potentially you might have tried launching in the past and it hasn't worked out the way you wanted it to. Or maybe you've already created something in the past, in your business, something else and it hasn't gone as well as you wanted to. Or maybe you are comparing yourself to your competitors or other people out there who have hundreds or thousands of followers and you're telling yourself that because your following isn't as big, your launch is going to fail. What you're doing is you're taking one of these things and you are making it mean that your launch will fail when it's not. Actually, we don't know that it's true. You're not a fortune teller. You can't predict the future. You can't predict what will happen in your launch. It's just really hard to believe in something that you haven't seen yet. It's really hard to believe that you are going to have a successful launch when you've never had any evidence to show that you'll have a successful launch.
So instead of trying to believe that your launch will succeed, the easier way is to start by believing that it's worth the risk of failure. That your launch, whatever you are launching is important enough for you to try it. Because most people won't. Most people will let that fear of failure stop them from launching in the first place. And that makes it really easy for you to stand out because you are somebody who believes that it's important enough that it needs to be out there. I'm going to leave you with an awesome quote from Seth Godin from one of his blog posts. And it goes like this, “Failure and the fear of failure gives you a chance to have a voice, because failure frightens people who care less than you do.” So isn't that just a beautiful quote? I love that.
