You'd be forgiven for thinking that the only digital product you can launch is an online course. They have been somewhat of the rage lately, particularly with people like Amy Porterfield doing such a great job with her marketing. And as you may know, she's the course creation queen.
But the thing is there are so many other kinds of digital products that you can launch that aren't an online course, and that might be better suited towards your business or what you offer than an online course would be.

The fact of the matter is, when considering an online course, typically people think, “I need to make this big signature online course as my first digital product,” and then they wonder why they never end up launching it because they've never actually finished this big signature course. It becomes this huge rabbit hole. So there are other digital products you can launch that are less time-intensive upfront and that might be better suited towards your business.
5 ideas for a digital product
Today I'm sharing with you five different ones that you could launch.
A group program
A group program tends to differ from an online course in that it has smaller numbers of students and they tend to be taught live, and there tends to be a lot more interaction between the teacher and the students. Obviously, there are different levels of this. There are ones where you would get a set amount of time, where you can actually ask your questions each call, and might be a small group of 10 people all the way through to maybe 50 people. The key thing here, though, is that it's taught live and there's a lot more interaction than in an online course. One of the really good benefits about a program is that you can create it week-by-week as you go, as you get a feel for what your students need to learn and what they need from you. A group program is a perfect product to launch before you've created it, by the way. And it's a lot easier to create than an online course if it's the first thing that you're launching.
A membership
Memberships have the benefit of being recurring revenue, but that is not the reason why you should launch a membership. You should launch a membership if your students have an ongoing need to learn from you, an ongoing problem that needs solving, or a habit that needs creating on an ongoing basis. So typically what I see with memberships that don't work is that people try to teach content that they could have taught in an online course inside a membership because they want that recurring revenue. A membership also works really well if your students need an ongoing community.
An ebook
I don't think I really need to go too in-depth in this. Most of you will know what an ebook is by now. It's basically a virtual book that is digital online that you can sell millions of copies of, and you don't need to pay a publisher to publish it for you.
A template
When I say templates, people tend to think design templates, Canva templates, that kind of thing, but this can also be document templates. You see this in the legal profession. A lot of people will do like terms and conditions templates. It might be if you were, for example, a sales coach, it could be like a sales call script. Think about anything that you do that could be templated. Maybe it's template emails that you find your clients are always having to send to people. So you could just write these templates up for them, and then they can copy and paste. Anything that can be copied and pasted and edited by your students or your customers can make a really good template.
A workshop
This can be live or it can be pre-recorded. And it's teaching something generally a little bit smaller than what you would teach inside an online course. It could be as short as one hour, as long as two, three hour days, potentially. You can make it as long as you want, but obviously, we want to deliver a clear transformation without overwhelming your audience. So that could be something that you could pre-launch and then teach it live. So you're creating it after you've actually launched it and validated the idea.
