Let's talk about why organic audience growth isn't just about showing up on social media more anymore. Maybe you've thought I will just show up on Instagram Stories more or maybe if I just post more often, I'll get more followers. And maybe once upon a time posting more often could get you more followers. Maybe engaging with people on social media could get you more followers. Maybe using the right hashtags could get you more followers. But these days that's not just how you grow your audience.

Why just showing up on social media won't grow your organic audience
Organic audience growth isn't just about showing up on social media more. What do I mean by that? What I mean is that yes, you can still grow your audience organically. Yes, you can still get more Instagram followers organically, but you're not going to get that by following outdated tactics like looking for the best hashtags, or following people and hoping they'll follow you back, or liking and commenting on their posts and hoping that they're going to follow you back because of that. Instead, what happens is by getting visible to new audiences on other platforms like in front of other people's audiences and then driving them back to your social media audience, your social media audience doesn't become a tool for attracting new people anymore, it becomes a tool for nurturing and engaging the people who you found elsewhere.
And getting visible to new audiences is often that really big barrier for most business owners especially when you're new in business and you're still dealing with a lot of that imposter syndrome. And that imposter syndrome still shows up years into business, let me tell you that. But you've got to get out from behind that laptop screen. And you've got to build that confidence and step into that spotlight because you can't impact people if you're hiding behind your laptop screen and not getting in front of other people's audiences. If you're just hiding there behind your Instagram account hoping that one day people will find you so you can help them. That's fine. Maybe they will one day find you. But you can't have that impact that you dream of having, you won't be able to have those big launches that you dream of having.
And honestly you just need to get visible. And it sounds like really basic advice. But let me tell you, it works. It wasn't until I consciously decided to get visible, to put myself out there, to not just be another person who's hiding behind their laptop screen on Instagram. It wasn't until I made that decision that my business really started to grow. Now, I was worried because I was pretty new, nobody made me a qualified launch strategist. So I was worried. I thought, what if people say, “Well, you're not the expert.” Who am I to be talking about this kind of stuff? But let me tell you this, you know a lot more than you think you do, you are more of an expert than you think you are, and it's never going to be this quick overnight growth, but it's also a lot faster than just sitting back and waiting for people to find you and follow you.
